1. HOWLING
2. NERVOUS BREAKDOWN

HOWLING is abingdon boys school’s second single. It was used as the opening theme to the anime Darker than Black. It was released on May 16, 2007 and has sold over 50,000 copies. It peaked at #4 on the Oricon charts.

Was the beginning of HOWLING written for Darker than Black? The lyrics sure parallel the series. Anyway, after the short spoken part, the song starts. I absolutely love it – vocals are always great and catchy. The chorus especially is catchy; I really like the part just following the chorus with the English phrases. There’s also a great guitar solo in the middle of it – awesome arrangement of the whole song, actually.

The first time I listened to NERVOUS BREAKDOWN, I though the intro sounded just like OLIVIA’s Cloudy World. But after a few seconds, it quickly breaks from it. It’s completely in English, and actually, the pronunciation is pretty good. I love the arrangement here, too. My favorite part in the song is where there is only vocals and soft guitar part before it jumps back into the full arrangement and loud vocals.
